What is Ripstop and how does it work?
Get a snag in regular cotton workwear pants or shirts and soon that snag will expand into a tear. That tear will get bigger and eventually the item will become unwearable.
Ripstop is all about preventing that from happening. Snag a Ripstop shirt and it will remain just that – a snag - because this innovative fabric is designed to prevent rips and tears.
So how does it work? Well, Ripstop fabric is material with a pattern of squares made out of stronger reinforced thread. So if you snag your sleeve and it catches one of the squares, that won’t spread to the next square and turn into a tear.

The idea of Ripstop fabrics has been around for a while but some of the early types were quite bulky and bumpy because of the weave. But now the fabric has become so refined it’s as light, smooth and easy to wear as a regular fabrics – but with the added bonus of not ripping.
The Ripstop range from Leedsafe

Such as the Coolflow Ripstop Shirt that has an advanced cooling design with back vent and underarm open mesh for free airflow. The shirt also includes segment tape which is heat sealed onto the garment as opposed to sewn on. This means it will last longer and won’t break and tear. Keeping the shirt looking good for longer.
