Case Study - Leedsafe's SmartSTORE®

THE CUSTOMER

OneStaff are specialists in industrial, manufacturing and construction recruitment. Their Hamilton branch supports clients across the city and the whole of the Waikato region. It’s a fast-growing area with plenty of ongoing construction and infrastructure projects as well as the development of roads of national significance and the Waikato Landport. For OneStaff Hamilton this means they are operating in a fast-paced environment - helping clients to get the staff they need, when and where they need them.

THE CHALLENGE

With many of the roles that OneStaff recruit for, staff need safety clothing, footwear and personal protective equipment (PPE). However, they were finding that they often had candidates come in for interview and there were jobs they could be sent to straight away, but they didn’t have the appropriate safety gear to be able to go on site. Instead, candidates would have to go home and wait for the order of their clothing, footwear and PPE to be delivered which could involve a day or so of delay.

Sending staff to jobs swiftly is good for both the candidates, who want to work, and the clients who need people on site. It keeps projects running on time and really matters to OneStaff’s clients.

To resolve the issue of the delays, OneStaff needed to be able to just give candidates the safety gear they needed for a particular job. But buying a lot of stock on spec is costly and impractical for most businesses. So, when Matt Scoble, Area Manager for OneStaff Hamilton, discussed this issue with the Leedsafe team, they suggested SmartSTORE®.

THE SOLUTION

SmartSTORE® is superb in its simplicity. SmartSTORE® allows businesses to have their own consignment stock of safety clothing, footwear and PPE on site.

Now that they use the SmartSTORE® system, OneStaff Hamilton have their own safety stock cupboard, on hand, in the branch. When candidates come in and there are jobs for them to go to, the OneStaff team can simply go to the stock cupboard – which carries a range of items from safety boots and hi-vis jackets right down to dust masks and earplugs – and provide the candidate with the necessary kit. Candidates then head straight to site without delay and get on with the job.

At the end of each month OneStaff do a quick stock take and complete an online form telling Leedsafe what they have used. From that information the Leedsafe system calculates what stock has been used, produces one easy monthly invoice and also sends replacement stock.
